Therapy Treatment Techniques Offered:
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE THERAPY
(John F. Barnes
Technique): This correcting and healing massage works on
the three dimensional weave of fascia (connective tissue) that
spreads uninterrupted and permeates our entire body from head to toe, that lines our
organs and bones, and provides shape and support for our body. Injuries
to the fascia can result from falls or accidents, inflammation,
disease, surgery, scarring, repetitive stress injuries, and general
stress--holding and bracing patterns.
Slow, sustained strokes are used to soften and lengthen collagen
fibers, relieving pressure, pain and bone misalignment.
Improves natural shock absorbability to the body, re-hydrates and flushes toxins out of body
tissues. This is a whole body treatment. For a more
thorough explanation of MFR therapy, please return to the home page
and click on the "WHAT IS MYOFASCIAL RELEASE" link on the left side
of this page.
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY (John Upledger Institute): CranioSacral therapy is a light touch (about 5 grams or the weight
of a nickel), hands-on method of releasing restrictions around the
brain and spinal cord to enable your body to self-correct and free
itself of pain and other health conditions. CranioSacral is a
natural therapy that works with the body, not against it. The central focus of this modality is the spinal column, cranium
(head), sacrum (tailbone), and the dural tube that encases this
osseous (bony) structure and contains the cerebral spinal fluid.
CranioSacral therapy is a light touch manual therapy that addresses
restrictions and dysfunction in the bones, membranes and fascia
making up this system. Since the CranioSacral system directly
impacts the central nervous system, it is easy to see how an
imbalance there could cause any number of sensory, motor and
neurological disabilities throughout the body..
SWEDISH
RELAXATION MASSAGE
: A meltdown massage!! This foundational massage is a
deeply relaxing and soothing full body massage, targeting common
muscle tightness and stiffness, and everyday stress that has
accumulated in the body. I use stroking, gliding, rocking and
gentle squeezing of the body's skin, muscles, tendons, and
ligaments--a profoundly relaxing massage! Improves circulation and elimination of
toxins, improves metabolical function, and stimulates the release of
oxitocin (the anti-stress hormone). Can include trigger point work
and/or target specific body areas of your choice.
PREGNANCY MASSAGE
(PRE, PERI & POSTNATAL)
: A calming and gentle
massage that blends the principles of Swedish massage with
myofascial technique. The focus is on those muscles and bone
structures that are under stress, are painful and uncomfortable
during pregnancy. The many benefits include increased
flexibility and mobility, reduced tightness and pain, less strain,
better posture, improvement of circulation and reduced edema
(swelling). Helps to facilitate an easier delivery for both
mother and baby. Continued treatment after delivery speeds up your
recovery time. *Recommended after the first trimester (3
months) has passed. PLEASE NOTE: for help with infertility
issues, please open "THE BENEFITS OF MASSAGE" link on left side of
this page and scroll down to read the last
article on MFR treatment for infertility.
